Mick, Thanks for the advice. Rohan had asked for 50% deposit which is a lot to lose if it all goes tits up with the import permit. I think I'll Email
him, tell him the position and ask if he will take a smaller deposit until I have the permit.
Yorkie, Yes if you could give me the contact details of the import agent that would be good, then I can get things moving.
Cheers

Tony,
My advice is that yo DO NOT pay a deposit until you have received your Import Permit.
If it is refused you will have to get Rohan to recondition another scooter for you and that may be complicated.
Get the frame number from Rohan and use this for the Import Application and advise him you will give him the deposit as soon as you have recieved the
Import Permit and not before.

Snowy

Hi Tony,
Welcome to the club I hail from Portsmouth know the Isle very well and so jealous you were there for the rally it is a sight to behold isnt it.
If your after a Lammie I have a friend up here who is selling his an Indian GP200 grey with a black Trojan head decal on the panels. He has done it
up very nicely if your interested contact me off site and I will pass on details. He is asking $4000.00 for it but you may be able to bargain him
down.
I am a Vespa girl through and through but this is one smart machine very tasty indeed.
I am happy to be of any assistance up here as far as getting it to you is concerned. Once again welcome to the club.

Sarah,
Thanks for the Lambretta offer. Had I known before christmas I would have jumped at it. As it is I've ordered a restored GP from Rohan in India and
have to sit around waiting for the import permit and then shipment. Very frustrating, want to get on with it.
Sorry to hear you are one of those skates from Portsmouth but want you to know I don't hold that against you.
Pompey not doing so well in the Premiership this year, Saints went all through that a couple years back. Seriously though Pompey has much improved
these days with the old Tricorn gone. Old Portsmouth is very nice and the they have made a good job of Gunwharf Quay, the old dockyard area.

The old Tricorn is gone? They used more concrete in that than the hoover dam...
I'm from Worthing and in the 80's used to go to a great scooter shop called Rafferty Newman, best scooter dealer along the south coast.
Are they still there?
Cheers

I'd like some advice from someone who is buying a rebuilt Lambretta from Rohan in India, or from anyone else that knows.
I've ordered a GP200 from Rohan and am waiting (and waiting) for completion. I've just found out that the source scooter in India is a GP150. I've
asked for a 200cc GP engine with the original order. I'm wondering if the current 150 gearbox and powertrain are compatable with the 200 engine.
If anyone has any information I'd appreciate a feedback.
Cheers

Tony,
When you specify a new GP 200 engine it includes the gearbox and power train. The GP 200 engine can be fitted to all sorts of Lambrettas, including a
GP 150, as the mounting is exactly the same.
Re Rohan, a lot of people are waiting like you, it appears the supply of new SIL GP 200 engines has dried up, this is the reason for the delay.
If you recall the advice in the Crusdars "Indian Scooter Buying Guide" it suggested no money be sent to Rohan (or any one else)until the scooter
restoration was completed and photographs and all the accompanying documentation was provided.
I hope you followed the guide, because if so you can simply cancel the order if the wait becomes too long
Regards
Snowy

Thanks for the information. I paid Rohan $1000 up front. I'll continue to wait, not happy about it but I'll just have to be patient. Hopefully I will
have it before the big rally at Daylesford.
