Hello Crusaders !
Hi Troops ! A wee Scotsmod here, moved to Melbourne from Ayrshire about 5 years ago.I've been into Scooters for years, but gave them up to follow my
other obsession of air cooled VW's for a while.I bought myself a 150 Super from a bloke in Sydney a couple of years ago and bought the Mrs's a kombi
at the same time.Untill now the kombi has taken up my time, but now thats semi reliable I'm putting the bike on the road.I'll try to get round to the
Stingo and meet you all once I'm on the road !!!

insurance companys they'd recommend.I tried Shannons but they K.B'd me as I've not held a bike licence for 12 months ! Most of the others wont touch
anything pre - 1980 !

G'day Swampy,
RACV would insure my 1967 Sprint (not cheap) I went with Shannons but I know a few people have been knocked back.
Cheers, Mark.

Welcome aboard Swampy, it will be best to get your Australian motorcycle licence, it will certainly help with the insurance.
If you passed your test on a motorcycle in the UK it's just a case of having it transferred onto your Ausiie car licence, no matter how long you have
been here.
Regards
Snowy

Hey Snowie, I got on well with the guy on the phone who gave me insurance, only because I bought a car there once and had them insure it, when I rang
initially, he did'nt want to know until I mentioned the car, then somehow we started talking and it turned out his kids go to the same school as mine
went to and before you know it the old scouse charm had worked and he was giving me insurance for the Viet job. Now I'm not too sure whether it's the
same guy I dealt with but Frank does ring a bell but so did Quasimodo. Anyway if Ican help in any way, give me a call. Cheers, Deg.

Hi guys, well it looks like the guy I bought my super off has done a number on me.It seems to have been imported illegaly into the country,no customs
clearance documents, spent hours going back and forwards between Vic Roads and customs,no joy from either of them with each of them just passing the
buck onto the other.Anyway I've bitten the bullet and bought another one, which is registered,so really pissed off with the weasil from Sydney, but
learned my lesson the hard way.Now for the new bike, any suggestions where to go for a roadworthy in Melbourne,I'm in Brunswick ?? Cheers

Hi Swampy, sorry to hear about your bad luck! unfortunately you're not alone in your grief. Anyhow, re- your roadworthy, if you want a roadworthy and
your not bothered about the actual road worthiness of the scooter, go and see the guys at 5/37 Wells Rd, Seaford. tel- 9786 9000. If you are really
concerned whether your scooter IS roadworthy take it to someone like Roberto the Vespawizard or other reputable scooter specialists first! ps I think
maybe Derek at Sooterlabs might be around your way, one of the members may confirm this. Cheers, DEG.
